Department of Microbiology:
- A molecular laboratory established and made functional with in a time limit of 10 days to diagnose and effectively treat pandemic of swine flue.
- Molecular (Rt-PCR) Microbiology Laboratory for Swine flu testing established in very short time in Year 2010 and till date 4052 samples tested from Saurashtra & Kutchh region.
- Microbiology department is designated as “Regional Laboratory for Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme”.
- Actively participated for Diagnosis & Control of CCHF epidemic, in collaboration with NIV, Pune laboratory.
- Organized “MICROCON-7” (Gujarat chapter, Indian Association of Medical Microbiologist of India) conference in 2012.

Dr. Ravi Gadani, Asst. Professor in General Surgery awarded with Best Paper Presentation Award at the time of Annual Conference of the Gujarat State Surgeon’s Association, 2008.
Dr. Jatin Bhatt Professor & Head of Surgery Department elected as a President of Gujarat State Chapter of The Association of Surgeons of India for the year 2008 & he worked as Organising Chairman of The Annual Conference.
GUJSURGCON 2008
GUJSURGCON 2008, which is a State Level Annual Conference, was organized by the Gujarat State Surgeon’s Association, Gujarat State Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India in association of Rajkot Surgeons Association and Dept. of Surgery, P. D. U. Medical College, Rajkot. It was held at the Hemu Gadhavi Hall, Rajkot, on 28th, 29th and 30th of November 2008. Dr. Jatin Bhatt, Professor and Head, Dept. of Surgery, P. D. U. Medical College was organizing Chairman and Dr. Anurag Mathur, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Surgery, P. D. U. Medical College was the Organizing Secretary of the event. All staff members from Department of Surgery took active part in organising the event and as Reception Committee members.
The conference was attended by approx. 450 delegates from all over the country. There was also the presence of international faculties like, Dr. Praveen Bhatia(New Delhi), Dr. Gautam Das(U.K.), Dr. Adarsh Chaudhary(New Delhi), Dr. Aditya Pareek(U.K.), Dr. Mahendra Narvaria (Ahmedabad), Dr. Sanjeev Haribhakti(Ahmedabad), Dr. Sunil Keshavani(Mumbai) and Dr. Pramod Shah(Germany). At the conference there was a live workshop of advanced laparoscopic surgeries being performed by eminent national and international faculties in the respective fields. The workshop was held at the Cancer Hospital, Rajkot.
During conference there were approximately 24 video presentations out of which, 2 were presented by Asst. Prof. in the Dept. of Surgery, P. D. U. Medical College. One of the 2 presentations won the award of the Best Video Presentation.

Dr. Vimal J. Vyas was a member of the Advisory Committee of Vista 2013 – The 41st Annual all Gujarat Ophthalmological Conference, organized at Rajkot from 14th to 15th September 2013.
Dr. Vimal J. Vyas successfully convened two sessions at the same conference – one regarding cataract and the second one regarding glaucoma.
Three papers were presented at the conference under the authorship of Dr. Vimal J. Vyas, out of which one paper was selected among “Best of the best” papers.
Dr. Kamal R Dodia was the chairperson of the Audio-visual committee for Vista 2013 – The 41st Annual all Gujarat Ophthalmological Conference, organized at Rajkot from 14th to 15th September 2013.
